(text copied from a post on the Scottish Government website dated 23 April 2020)

Guidance issued on the temporary suspension of the requirement for public events in relation to pre-application consultation (PAC) and on both the effect of the Town and Country Planning (Miscellaneous Temporary Modifications) (Coronavirus) (Scotland) Regulations 2020, which makes that temporary suspension, and on alternative online consultation.

LHNCC agenda: April 2020

Given the unusual nature of the circumstances we are in, we are doing our best for the Community Council and also the best in our responsibility to deliver upon our commitment to the community which we serve.

Because LHNCC is currently learning how to conduct meetings online, this will be a members-only ‘discussion’ meeting.

  • LHNCC welcomes public input in advance via the website contact-form at https://lhncc.org.uk/contact-us/.
  • Public input is equally welcome at any time after the meeting.

LHNCC is aware that online meetings exclude those who cannot access them, whatever the reason. However, this is the best it can offer under the current circumstances.

We would also like to thank all the valiant people who are providing essential services across all sectors in our community and beyond.

CityPlan 2030 update

(with apologies for the delay in posting this)

Following current government guidance on Covid-19, the final Choices for City Plan drop-in event scheduled to take place on Thursday 19 March 2020 at the St Bride’s Community Centre was cancelled.

If you had been planning to attend and/or have any questions about Choices for City Plan 2030, please contact the City Plan team and we will do our best to answer your queries.  You can contact us via email cityplan2030@edinburgh.gov.uk or via telephone 0131 529 4692.

The Choices for City Plan online consultation will remain open for you to let us know your comments until 31 March 2030.

A new Development Plan Scheme outlining the proposed schedule to take City Plan 2030 to the Proposed Plan stage will be presented to Committee later in 2020.

You can keep up to date with the project and any changes by:

Leith Creative – Making Places

Adapted from an email form Citizen Curator, with apologies for late posting by LHNCC. (The email was received in good time.)

I wanted to initially flag that Leith Creative and the Scottish Community Development Center will be co-hosting three meetings over the coming months.

Building on from the Leith Conference in October 2019, the meetings will focus on the key issues effecting the area, the development of a Local Place Plan and the potential of a new Leith Community Development Trust.

I will circulate booking details early February, but for your diary – meetings will be held in the Leith Community Center between 6.30 and 9pm, on the;

  • 20th February
  • 19th March
  • 23rd April

The meetings are open to all so please do share as soon as bookings open. A light bite and refreshment will be available on the night.

As some of you know over the break I took the decisions to step down from Citizen Curator, the charity that supported this Leith Conference and founded Leith Creative. It will be winding down over the coming months. I hope to finish this project and focus on the foundation of something new for the area to continue this work.

In the mean time, just a quick thank you for your support so far, and I will be responding in person shortly.

Best wishes

Duncan

Consultation on updating the planning performance and fee regimes

adapted from an email from the Scottish Government

Recently, the Scottish Government published a consultation on updating the planning performance and fee regimes which will run until 14th February 2020. This was a key action identified in our work programme which was published in September 2019. The consultation reflects Scottish Ministers’ commitment to the principle that any increases to planning fees must be linked to improved performance.

The consultation seeks to move planning fees towards covering the costs of determining applications for planning permission as well as seeking views on what additional services which planning authorities provide should be subject to a fee, the circumstances whereby an authority may reduce or waive a planning fee and the introduction of charges for appealing planning decisions.
