Low Emission Zone: CEC consultation

Edinburgh Council is consulting on a low emission zone: consultation is at https://consultationhub.edinburgh.gov.uk/sfc/low-emission-zone

CEC seek views on the following proposed aspects of the Edinburgh LEZ:

  • city centre zone boundary
  • 2 -year grace period
  • local exemptions and considerations for impacted groups

CEC also seeks to understand knowledge of LEZs and LEZ related support funds and those available for other sustainable transport options. The consultation period is running for 12 weeks, from the 28th June 2021 and closing on 20th September 2021.

Responses, comments or feedback can also be emailed to low.emission.zone@edinburgh.gov.uk,

or posted to: Low Emission Zone, Waverley Court G3, East Market Street, Edinburgh, EH8 8BG

Depending on the volume of feedback received, it is hoped that a final LEZ scheme can be formally published towards the end of 2021 and agreed by the Council and Scottish Ministers early in 2022 before it is implemented in May 2022.

Leith low-traffic neighbourhood consultations (CEC’s actual consultation)

Hot on the heels of the last post, CEC is running a consultation as well as AECOM. LHNCC’s web-weaver guesses (but cannot promise) that Edinburgh Council will be more interested in responses to its own consultation.

Follow this link (https://consultationhub.edinburgh.gov.uk/sfc/low-traffic-neighbourhoods/) to access CEC’s Leith LTN consultation.

There are also workshops – register via Eventbrite as follows.

Leith low-traffic neighbourhood consultation

Message from LHNCC’s secretary

The Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) Team (Leith Connections) announced that Leith LTN consultation/survey will go live on the Hub on Friday 4th July.

The Team will be running 2 public meetings for Leith LTN – one in week beginning 14th June and one in week beginning 28th June – details to be confirmed so not included in information leaflets.

I would recommend reading this and completing survey, especially as it only considers a limited area omitting section North of Commercial Street. This means that leaflets that have been distributed may not have included a large section of our CC.

Coronavirus testing: McDonald Rd, 14 to 20 June

Edinburgh Council says…

Regular testing for people with no COVID-19 symptoms is one of the ways we can all help keep people safe and stop the spread of COVID-19 in Edinburgh. Infection rates are rising across Edinburgh, particularly in some communities.

We’re asking people who have no COVID-19 symptoms to come along to McDonald Road Library from Monday 14 June to Sunday 20 June for a test. We’re open from 9am to 6pm and there’s no need to book. Testing is free, fast and safe. It will only take around 15 minutes to take the test and 45 minutes for people to be sent their results.

If you can’t get to the library, you can order free rapid lateral flow test kits online or by phoning the National Testing Centre on 119.

Almost 1 in 3 people infected with Covid-19 don’t have any of the usual symptoms but are potentially passing on the virus unknowingly to family, friends and others in the community. By getting tested people can find out if they are positive and self-isolate at home to stop spreading the virus to others. People who have been vaccinated are also encouraged to take a test as they may still carry the virus.

You can find out more about community testing on our web pages at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/communitytesting

Please can you share this with your contacts in the community and encourage people to come along.

Thank you for your help.
