Clean Air Day – today

Planning Edinburgh blogged yesterday

Every year, air pollution causes up to 36,000 deaths in the UK.  Poor air quality causes heart and lung disease and is linked to low birth weight and children’s lung development.

Thursday 17 June is Clean Air Day – the UK’s largest air pollution campaign that aims to bring people together to build awareness of the actions we can all do to tackle it.

Leith low-traffic neighbourhood consultations (CEC’s actual consultation)

Hot on the heels of the last post, CEC is running a consultation as well as AECOM. LHNCC’s web-weaver guesses (but cannot promise) that Edinburgh Council will be more interested in responses to its own consultation.

Follow this link (https://consultationhub.edinburgh.gov.uk/sfc/low-traffic-neighbourhoods/) to access CEC’s Leith LTN consultation.

There are also workshops – register via Eventbrite as follows.

Rennie’s Isle consultation – closing soon!

VRS Limited has plans ‘a mixed use development and sustainable Build to Rent scheme’. This would be at 1 Rennie’s Isle, ‘an existing 1980s design office building that sits at the north eastern corner of Victoria Quay on Ocean Drive’

This site ‘lies just outside of the Leith Conservation Area (and the sub-zone of Old Leith and the Shore) in ‘North Leith’ just to the south of the active docks.’

VRS says ‘The design is at an early stage but we intend to submit an application for planning permission for a complete redevelopment of the building. This will include mixture of live-work apartments to rent as well as affordable housing and potential active ground floor uses.’

Read more about VRS’s plans in the ‘online exhibition’.

Say what you think in the ‘online consultation’.

Closing date 26 May 2021.
