The following is from Forth Ports. LHNCC does not at this point speak for or against Forth Ports’ and Grahams’ work on this matter.
As the construction of Forth Port’s offshore wind renewables hub at Leith progresses I thought it would be helpful to provide an overview of the status of the project and how we are working with the local community during the construction phase.
The works got underway at the start of the year, under the management of the main contractor, GRAHAM, who we have previously worked with to deliver our offshore wind facility in Dundee, which is currently handling the load out of the Neart Na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm. The construction of the outer berth (which is required to accommodate the wind installation vessels that are used to transport the components) has been progressing in a meaningful way since May. This requires the driving of piles to support the structure and this activity does generate noise. As you would expect as an experienced contractor, GRAHAM are ensuring this is undertaken in accordance with Edinburgh City Council requirements and GRAHAM have regular dialogue with the Council’s Environmental Health Officer, whilst also liaising with the local community.
GRAHAM have received a handful of complaints from local residents, which have been dealt with directly and in response they have deployed further noise attenuation measures and further considered the timing of the piling activity. There is also a website (https://www.graham.co.uk/port-of-leith-outer-berth) that provides weekly updates on site activity.
If you have any questions regarding the project please do let me know using this email address: Angelique.VanVreden@forthports.co.uk

LHNCC wishes to express its thanks and gratitude to Jennifer Marlborough, who stepped down in retirement from the CC at last night’s AGM, for all her hard work and dedication to making Leith and Newhaven better places to live.
Jennifer has acted as Secretary and Planning convenor for 8 years, roles which have required a great deal of effort and skill, and all in a voluntary capacity. She will be sadly missed on the Council but we know that she will still be supporting causes close to her heart, particularly on heritage matters.
Here is Jennifer with her bouquet of flowers and enjoying a well-earned pint of local ale in Teuchters!

Good luck Jennifer and keep in touch!
