(adapted from a post on Leith Links CC’s website)
In accordance with the terms of the Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999, I write to inform you that the City of Edinburgh Council proposes to advertise the Traffic Regulation Order which will create zones in Edinburgh within which vehicle speeds will be limited to 20 mph at all times. Further information on the 20 mph speed limits, including a map of the 20 mph network, is available on the Council’s websites at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/20mph and www.edinburgh.gov.uk/trafficorders or at www.tellmescotland.gov.uk. Should you wish to submit an objection to the proposal, please do so by 26 June 2015, quoting notice reference number TRO/15/17.

Community Police Officers – funded by Edinburgh Council

Each council ward will be assigned 2 Community Police Officers, with an additional 7 for City Centre to aid with issues around the night time economy, as agreed at Edinburgh Council’s Health, Social Care and Housing Committee today. Full details can be found at http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/download/meetings/id/46716/item_76_-_police_scotland_service_level_agreement_2015-16.

Please see below the cut for the key parts of this document.

The agreement will apparently commence on 1st April (it’s 21 April just now). We do not currently know how many Community Improvement partnerships (CIPs) are in place just now, nor how they will interface with Community Councils, but will report as soon as we have further information. Public toilet closures: which would **you** close?

(with thanks to Leith Links CC for alerting us to this issue. The text below is adapted from a page on Edinburgh Council’s consultation hub.)

Edinburgh Council has taken a step back from implementing a £600,000 reduction for the Public Conveniences budget, which would have resulted in the closure of 22 public toilets across the city.

However, a budget decision was taken in 2011 to remove £300,000 from the service budget within the 2015/2016 financial year. This means that around 10 public toilets will still need to be closed. You can tell Edinburgh Council what you think by answering a survey. (Please note the survey opens on Monday 13 April.)

There is a consultation on the plans for the Water of Leith catchment area at https://frm-scotland.org.uk/frmp/ph2_forth-estuary-lpd-10-draft-flood-risk-mana/
