The new speed limits are designed to increase safety for all road users in Edinburgh as well as creating a calmer, more people-friendly environment in shopping and residential streets.  A network of key arterial roads across the city will be retained at 30mph and 40mph, resulting in a modest impact on journey times overall. Dredging at Newhaven Harbour

In 2015 Forth Ports Ltd (Forth Ports) undertook a capital dredge of Newhaven
Harbour and the approach channel, dredging 10,705 m3 sediment and
disposing of it at the Oxcars disposal site in the Firth of Forth. The capital
dredge proved successful in allowing the safe navigation of Newhaven
Harbour by tenders from cruise liners. Forth Ports now intends to
undertake maintenance dredging works within the footprint of the original
capital dredge to continue to ensure the safe navigation of vessels into and out
of the harbour throughout the tidal cycle.
