Edinburgh 20mph Speed Limits – Go Live

From Sunday 31 July, the legal speed limit in streets across much of Edinburgh’s city centre and rural west area will go down to 20mph, the first phase in a planned rollout of lower speeds across the Capital.
The new speed limits are designed to increase safety for all road users in Edinburgh as well as creating a calmer, more people-friendly environment in shopping and residential streets. A network of key arterial roads across the city will be retained at 30mph and 40mph, resulting in a modest impact on journey times overall. Continue reading
Care and Repair Edinburgh – Better At Home
Care and Repair Edinburgh (C&RE) is a registered charity supporting older (60+) and disabled people to live safely at home through providing a range of practical services.
C&RE is contracted by the City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) to provide the following core services:
- small repairs
- adaptations
- FREE handyperson/volunteer
- keysafe fitting (police approved)
- trade referrals.

Police online poll for public

Police Scotland is inviting people to tell them what they want from local policing via a new online survey. The survey, which takes 15 minutes to complete, follows feedback from communities who want better opportunities to have their say.
Chief Constable Phil Gormley said, ‘Police Scotland wants to gather and understand views which reflect the needs of communities.’
The year-long survey went live yesterday at www.scotland.police.uk/yourviewcounts.

Election hustings: 14 April
The Spurtle will host hustings for the Scottish Parliamentary election from 7.30pm–9.00pm on 14 April in Broughton St Mary’s Parish Church (Bellevue Crescent).
Representatives have been invited from all 10 parties/independents standing in the Edinburgh Northern & Leith constituency. Full details are on the Spurtle website.
