It’s a week of events aimed at promoting tolerance, understanding, companionship between people of all faiths.* EIFA believes that now, more than ever, such work is needed to ensure divisions do not take hold after events such as those witnessed last weekend in Paris, which have already had repercussions in Scotland.

Review of the Scottish Planning System – your chance to speak

Background Information
The Scottish Government’s Programme for Government 2015-2016 announced that it would ‘… review the operation of the planning system in Scotland, identifying the scope for further reform with a focus on delivering a quicker, more accessible and efficient planning process, in particular increasing delivery of high quality housing developments.’

Planning Aid for Scotland would like to hear your views about the Scottish Government Review of the Scottish Planning System. PAS is holding a series of 3 events for volunteers, Community Councils and other community groups, members of the public and Development Trusts at which it would like to hear your views about how the Scottish planning system should be reformed. Meet the funders

The next Meet the Funders event will take place on Thursday 3 December 2015 and will be held in Portobello Town Hall from 1 to 4pm.

‘Meet the Funders’ is a free marketplace event providing access to funding information for community projects.  It is an opportunity for groups to discuss their ideas with potential funders and collect a range of information about possible sources of grant aid.  The event also offers the groups an opportunity to meet and work together.

Edinburgh Eco Fair

Edinburgh Eco Fair is coming to Out of the Blue Drill Hall on Sunday 4th October and will be a wonderful celebration of green companies and services from the Edinburgh area. There will be stalls of planet-friendly gifts, treats and food as well as crafts for kids and musical interludes. You’ll also be able to chat to the groups who are working to create a more sustainable future for our communities.

Parking in Edinburgh – consultation

Edinburgh Council is consulting on its draft parking action plan (PAP). The PAP sets out a range of actions and was approved for consultation by the Transport and Environment Committee on 25 August. The main actions include

  • The extension of parking controls to cover weekends/Sundays and into the evening
  • The roll out of shared use parking places
  • The introduction of visitor permits in the city centre
