A fund created to enable and empower communities to make artistic and aesthetic improvements to the National Cycle Network (NCN), for the benefit of place quality, enjoyment and active travel.

This fund is for constituted community groups, based in Scotland, with their own bank account. However, we will also consider applications from groups who can show that they are organised and committed, without a group bank account.
Grants of up to £1,500 can be applied for. If the total cost of the project is more than £1,500 then evidence must be shown that the remaining cost is covered (match funding is encouraged for bigger projects).

Are you interested in delivering open access youth work with young people aged 11 and over? Communities and Families is opening a participatory budgeting grant programme to support such work in 2017-18. Applications will be assessed by a team of young people and Council officers before a voting process for young people. It will be the combination of these two processes that will determine who is awarded funding. The total budget available is £60,000 with a minimum award level of £500 and the maximum award level of £10,000. The work should benefit young people in Edinburgh and can be locally based or citywide work.
Application packs will be available on the Edinburgh Compact website from 6th February and the closing date will be 3pm on 24th February.

The Grow For It 2017 funding is now open for applications!
We’re looking for talented and imaginative young people aged 12 – 25 to raise awareness about the importance of UK native wild flowers and plants.
With two funding options – Transform a Space and Get Creative – there’s something for everyone. Young people can apply today to be in with a chance of receiving £500 to bring their projects to life!
Successful projects will be selected by a judging panel of young people, from across the UK, who have previously been involved with Grow Wild.

This year Edinburgh Council asked for ideas on how to deliver some services more effectively whilst staying customer focused. There was support for more shared facilities for services such as the Drumbrae Hub, using more volunteers (but not to replace paid staff) and improving our online services.

The play your part report will go to Edinburgh Council’s Finance and Resources Committee on 19 January. The Council will then consider this feedback when it sets the 2017/18 revenue budget on 9 February. You can watch these meetings live on the Council’s website or view a recording afterwards.

The Scottish Government is consulting on proposals to change the planning system. Aa statutory consultation on a proposal to relocate Victoria Primary School to a new building in the Western Harbour and undertake catchment changes in the Western Harbour and North Leith areas of the city began on 30 January 2017. The public consultation period will run until 5pm on Friday 17 March 2017.
The proposal in the statutory consultation paper principally affects Victoria Primary School and Trinity Primary School. The paper also proposes very minor catchment changes for Holy Cross RC Primary School, Trinity Academy and St Thomas of Aquin’s RC High School.

Shared Vision – Your Decision is an Edinburgh based project, which enables members of the public who live, work, study and volunteer within Edinburgh to decide how public money is spent in eradicating Islamophobia and associated prejudiced behaviour. We understand that Islamophobic behaviour also affects other faith communities.
Police Scotland, the City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Government have contributed £40,000 for allocation through a Participatory Budgeting process.
Organisations across Edinburgh have submitted project proposals as to how they feel they can contribute towards this, and this is your chance to decide which projects you feel will be most effective and should be funded.
