Roseburn to Leith Walk cycle link: deadline extended

Following initial consultation regarding the Roseburn to Leith cycle link and street improvements it has been agreed that there should be an extension on the period for reply.

The period for responding has been extended until 1 February 2016.

Trams Latest

According to today’s Scotsman, plans  to extend the tram line down Leith Walk have suffered a setback.

The  city council is apparently due to vote next week on plans for a £144 million Extension of the the route to Newhaven.   However, the SNP has voiced doubts about the financial case for the extension at a time when the council is under budget pressures and are said to be ready to vote against the proposal.

The Scottish Government’s Programme for Government 2015-2016 announced that it would ‘… review the operation of the planning system in Scotland, identifying the scope for further reform with a focus on delivering a quicker, more accessible and efficient planning process, in particular increasing delivery of high quality housing developments.’

Planning Aid for Scotland would like to hear your views about the Scottish Government Review of the Scottish Planning System. PAS is holding a series of 3 events for volunteers, Community Councils and other community groups, members of the public and Development Trusts at which it would like to hear your views about how the Scottish planning system should be reformed. SESplan Main Issues Report consultation closing soon!

If you wish to comment on this major piece of planning, affecting all of south-east Scotland for the next 20 years, you only have days to do so. SESplan would like to remind everyone to submit their responses on the Main Issues Report no later than 5pm on Wednesday 30 September.

They encourage everyone interested in the future of the region to submit their views on the issues. Comments on the Main Issues Report will be used to inform the next Strategic Development Plan and future planning documents over the next twenty years.
