SESplan, the Strategic Development Planning Authority for South East Scotland, has prepared a new Proposed Strategic Development Plan. The Proposed Strategic Development Plan sets out a vision, broad development patterns and levels of growth for the city region over a 20 year period from 2018.

It is intended that the plan will replace the current Strategic Development Plan in 2018 and will inform the next set of Local Development Plans in the future. The Proposed Strategic Development Plan is based on the options in, and responses to, the 2015 Main Issues Report.

The Proposed Strategic Development Plan, the Environmental Report and other supporting documents are available to view on the SESplan website: www.sesplan.gov.uk

The formal period of representations on the Proposed Strategic Development Plan will start on 13 October and run until 5pm on Thursday 24 November 2016. During this period anyone will be able to submit representations using the SESplan Consultation Portal:  Continue reading

Community payback orders – your views are wanted

Edinburgh Council’s Criminal Justice Service (CJS) is consulting residents, community groups and organisations about Community Payback Orders (CPOs). These are given out by Courts so offenders can pay for their crimes as an alternative to prison sentences.

You can send in your views by completing CJS’s consultation form. If you provide contact details, CJS can let you know when the Council’s 2015-2016 CPO Report is available. If you would like further information, please contact enquiries.criminaljustice@edinburgh.gov.uk , or telephone 0131 469 3408. Alcohol in Leith

In 2014, local people said that alcohol was a factor in some of the issues which needed to be prioritised.  Those views are supported by statistical information which tells us that alcohol impacts on the Leith Neighbourhood Partnership area in a number of ways.

The City of Edinburgh’s Licensing Board regularly produce a statement on how they will carry out licensing in the city and the Partnership is asked to say how it would like this done in Leith.  The Partnership would like to be sure that what it says is the correct view of local people.  So it would like to know more about local people’s experience and views on alcohol. What are your priorities for the police service?

(adapted from a post on Leith Links CC’s website)

The Scottish Government is reviewing the Strategic Police Priorities set under the Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Act 2012.

The first stage of this review is a broad discussion centred around the question ‘What are your priorities for your police service?’: https://ideas.scotland.gov.uk/strategic-police-priorities. The consultation is open until 12 February 2016.

They want to hear from members of the public, communities, local police scrutiny committees, and all those involved in issues connected to policing in Scotland about what is important to you. As with most consultations, the more responses the better so please do share.
