At yesterday’s Transport and Environment Committee meeting the councillors agreed to allow all bus lanes in Edinburgh to be effective only at peak times of the day at least on an experimental basis.

The Himalayan Centre’s Carbon Conversations is a programme of 6 free weekly sessions that aims to support people wanting to reduce their environmental impact. We’ll be talking about what it means to be green and environmentally aware, and all complexities and practicalities this implies. By sharing our experiences, hopes and questions in a non-judgemental environment we’ll get a true sense of how each of us can contribute to a healthier, happier and greener community.
Please note participants are welcome to attend all or some sessions, and we will be giving a Carbon Literacy Certificate to those who take part in all six gatherings. In November 2013 the Corporate Policy and Strategy Committee approved a Review of Events Governance. One of the recommendations was that a report would be submitted to Committee, setting out a revised application and approval process for event organisers and to provide clarity about the process for other stakeholders. This process is already defined for the city’s green spaces in the Parks and Greenspaces Events Manifesto.

In accordance with the terms of the Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999, I write to inform you that the City of Edinburgh Council proposes to advertise the Traffic Regulation Order which will create zones in Edinburgh within which vehicle speeds will be limited to 20 mph at all times. Further information on the 20 mph speed limits, including a map of the 20 mph network, is available on the Council’s websites at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/20mph and www.edinburgh.gov.uk/trafficorders or at www.tellmescotland.gov.uk. If you do not have internet access you can view this information online at your local library or Neighbourhood Office.
