This is a sub-group of Leith Neighbourhood Partnership (NP), which brings together service providers with an interest in health to work on the Healthy Leith priority, identified by local people in the 2014-17 Local Community Plan.  This priority is important for everyone with those affected by poverty, social isolation, disability or addiction particularly in need of local services. Proposed Aldi Supermarket in Dock Street.

Aldi has applied for planning permission to build a new supermarket in Dock Street next to the Kinloch Anderson shop.  The deadline for comment is Friday 13 May.  The details of the application can by accessed by the following link.

Dredging at Newhaven Harbour

In 2015 Forth Ports Ltd (Forth Ports) undertook a capital dredge of Newhaven
Harbour and the approach channel, dredging 10,705 m3 sediment and
disposing of it at the Oxcars disposal site in the Firth of Forth. The capital
dredge proved successful in allowing the safe navigation of Newhaven
Harbour by tenders from cruise liners. Forth Ports now intends to
undertake maintenance dredging works within the footprint of the original
capital dredge to continue to ensure the safe navigation of vessels into and out
of the harbour throughout the tidal cycle.

Proposals For Waterfront Plaza

 

CALA Management Ltd submitted  a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) on 26 February 2016 relating to a proposed residential led development including affordable housing provision, landscaping and public realm parking and associated works  and . As part of the ongoing design development of the proposals and in advance of submitting a planning application later this year, CALA is inviting local residents  to attend a public consultation event on Thursday 21st April 2016, between 12pm – 7pm at Ocean Terminal, Ocean Drive, Edinburgh EH6 6JJ.

 

This is an opportunity for CALA to gather views and comments from members of the public and the local community on the emerging proposals. The exhibition will illustrate the proposed approach to development as it is progressing, and members of the project team will be on hand to explain the proposals.

We would encourage you to go along and make your views count.

Police online poll for public

Police Scotland is inviting people to tell them what they want from local policing via a new online survey.  The survey, which takes 15 minutes to complete, follows feedback from communities who want better opportunities to have their say.

Chief Constable Phil Gormley said, ‘Police Scotland wants to gather and understand views which reflect the needs of communities.’

The year-long survey went live yesterday at www.scotland.police.uk/yourviewcounts.

Election hustings: 14 April

The Spurtle will host hustings for the Scottish Parliamentary election from 7.30pm–9.00pm on 14 April in Broughton St Mary’s Parish Church (Bellevue Crescent).

Representatives have been invited from all 10 parties/independents standing in the Edinburgh Northern & Leith constituency. Full details are on the Spurtle website.
