Trams Latest

According to today’s Scotsman, plans  to extend the tram line down Leith Walk have suffered a setback.

The  city council is apparently due to vote next week on plans for a £144 million Extension of the the route to Newhaven.   However, the SNP has voiced doubts about the financial case for the extension at a time when the council is under budget pressures and are said to be ready to vote against the proposal.

Proposed Aldi Development

Aldi is proposing   to build a new foodstore on Commercial Street, at Sandport Industrial Estate, next to Kinloch Anderson.  It will provide car parking and high quality landscaping.
The proposals will create up to 35 new local jobs and assist in regenerating this vacant site while bringing the award-winning Which? Best Supermarket 2015 to Leith shoppers.
Before submitting an application, Aldi will be consulting with the local community.
As part of that process representatives of Aldi’s planning consultants will be attending the Leith Harbour and Newhaven Coomunity Council Meeting on Tuesday 24 November to discuss the proposals.  This will provide an opportunity for local people to have their say.
The meeting will take place in the Shore Room in the community centre in the Kirkgate commencing at 7pm.
